One of our favorite destinations during the winter months is Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Desert, CA. We have stayed here during the summer months but that area is very hot. Easily over 100 degrees during the day! The temperatures during the winter months are much more enjoyable.
That being said, they have a beautiful pool to keep you cool regardless of the time of year you visit. As you can see from the map below, the pool and gym area is centrally located in the park.
We usually stay in the "elite" spots. Depending on the size of rig you have it might be a little challenging for you to park as these spots are all back in. I wish the streets were a tad wider to make it easier to back in. We learned that getting there as early makes as possible it easier as there are fewer rigs to navigate around.
We once stayed in a premium spot which gives you a little more room to maneuver but the weekend we were staying there. They used the empty spots in that area as overflow parking for a wedding they were hosting. Nothing like listening to a mariachi band warm-up near your trailer or a bunch of intoxicated guests leaving after the wedding when you are trying to get some sleep. I just wished the main office would've given us a heads up beforehand. They were very apologetic when I confronted them about this.
Access to the RV Resort is about as easy as it gets off the 10 Freeway. This is a gated RV resort so you get very little traffic when the gates are closed. The Emerald Desert RV Resort is actually located in a residential area so you have easy access to fuel stations, grocery stores and restaurants. One a couple of occasions when it was just too hot to cook, we ordered takeout from a local pizza joint.
As far as things to do while staying here, it looks like Golf might be the biggest attraction. We don't golf so I can't provide any feedback on golfing but I know that there are many awesome golf courses in the immediate area. We usually come here to relax and spend as much time as we can in their beautiful pool.
Overall this is a great RV park. We come here at least once a year and will continue coming here as long as we can afford it (yes it can be pricey for some).
