This delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe (aka the $250 Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies) is part of an urban legend that has been around or over 70 years.

The gist of the myth is that a woman bought this recipe from Neiman Marcus for $250, and when the store refused to refund her money, she decided to “share” the recipe with the world in an attempt to devalue the recipe.

The story turned out to be false. You can check out Snopes for more information. And to make the story even more unbelievable, here’s a quote from Neiman Marcus:

An urban myth is a modern folk tale, its origins unknown, its believability enhanced simply by the frequency with which it is repeated. Our signature chocolate chip cookie is the subject of one such myth.

If you haven’t heard the story, we won’t perpetuate it here. If you have, the recipe below should serve to refute it. Copy it, print it out, and pass it along to friends and family. It’s a terrific recipe. And it’s absolutely free.

These cookies are outstanding. Easy to make and so delicious. You can make them when you are in a hurry as they do not take very long to whip them up. Will make them again and again especially for the grandkids.
