A few months back I was going through a really old family recipe book and came across a couple recipes for biscuits. Now if you are like me, you probably just pick up a few cans of biscuits and pop them in the oven when needed. I mean why not? It’s quick and easy and just about anybody can make biscuits from a can. But what fun is that?

Every now and then it’s fun to make something from scratch. And that’s where this recipe comes in. A handful of ingredients and no more than 30 minutes of your time and voila! Homemade Cheesy Biscuits!

How to Make this Recipe

Preheat oven to 400°F.

In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add cheese and blend in shortening.

Gradually add milk and mix well using your hands to form the dough.

Divide the dough into 12 pieces. Mold into the desired shape and place on greased baking sheet.

Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes, then reduce heat to 300°F and continue baking for 10 minutes.
