If you are like me, you are always looking for snacks to bring for those long road trips. This trip I decided to make Lynne’s Bits & Pieces (aka Trail Mix)

Sure you can buy a bunch of stuff at the grocery store but why not make your own Homemade Trail Mix?

Typically trail mix includes granola, dried fruit, nuts, and sometimes even chocolate. That is according to the folks at Wikipedia

This version of Trail Mix comes courtesy of my Aunt Lynne. While it does not include the traditional ingredients, it is still a superb snack for those road trips and hikes.

All the quantities listed on the recipe card are approximate so you can adapt the ingredients to your liking. Or you can even substitute some for your favorite ingredients (my wife likes to add chocolate. what a shocker).

This recipe may contain peanuts or other nuts and seeds as one of its ingredients. Please take the appropriate precautions.

You will need the following ingredients to make this snack recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Salted Peanuts, Cheerios, Pretzel Sticks, Cheese Bits, Worcestershire Sauce, Celery Salt, Garlic Powder and Olive Oil.

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F.
  2. Add the peanuts, cheerios, pretzels and cheese bits to a mixing bowl. Gently mix
  3. Add the Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and garlic powder and mix making sure all pieces are coated.
  4. Place the mixture on a baking sheet. Spray with a little olive oil using a mister.
  5. Bake for 2 hours stirring every half hour and spraying with olive oil.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 Cup Salted Peanuts
  • 1 Cup Cheerios
  • 1 Cup Pretzel Sticks
  • 1 Cup Cheese Bits
  • 2 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 4 Tsp Celery Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder, or to taste
  • Olive Oil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 250°F.

  1. These are a staple in my house. The kids love them when they come home from school. Just a little bit tides them over till supper. Easy to make, and they keep very well.
