There’s nothing like a nice side of BBQ Baked Beans to go along with a nice piece of meat and this copycat recipe from Hard Rock Cafe does not disappoint.

Just like most baked bean recipes, this one is very easy to make. All you need to do is combine a bunch of ingredients into an oven-safe dish and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Yes it’s that easy.

What makes this Copycat BBQ Baked Beans recipe unique besides the fact that it is the same one Hard Rock Cafe serves, is some of the unique ingredients it uses. The nice thing too is that you probably already have all the ingredients on hand needed to make this recipe.

Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of theme restaurants founded in 1971. The first Hard Rock Cafe was in Hyde Park, London. A few years later the 2nd Hard Rock Cafe was opened in Toronto, Canada. From that point forward 100s more were opened worldwide.

Since the goal of a Copycat Recipe is for it to taste exactly like the original, it’s only natural to rate this recipe against the original. This Copycat recipe rates a solid 9 out of 10 in my opinion.

And don’t throw away that bacon grease! Bacon is expensive and the grease is great for making Scrambled Eggs, Grilled Cheese, Popcorn and even hash browns. It can keep up to 3 months if properly stored in the refrigerator.

If you don’t have any dark brown sugar on hand you can substitute for some light brown sugar. Doing so will have a small effect on the color and the taste as dark brown sugar contains a little more molasses than light brown sugar.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Copycat BBQ Baked Beans recipe from Hard Rock Cafe (see recipe card for quantities): Pinto Beans, Cornstarch, Water, Ketchup, White Vinegar, Dark Brown Sugar, Yellow Onion, Yellow Mustard, Chili Powder, Salt, Ground Black Pepper and Bacon.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the water. Set aside.
  3. Place the rest of the ingredients in a 2-quart casserole. Add the cornstarch mixture to the bean mixture and stir.
  4. Bake for 90 minutes, or until sauce thickens stirring every 30 minutes.
  5. Optionally garnish with crumbled bacon.

Ingredients
 

  • 30 oz Pinto Beans, with liquid
  • 2 Tsp Cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp Water
  • ½ Cup Ketchup
  • Cup White Vinegar
  • ¼ Cup Dark Brown Sugar

    These Copycat Hard Rock Cafe BBQ Baked Beans are the best I have ever made. I have made beans many times, but have never used brown sugar or chili powder. When I made these I followed the recipe and they were fantastic.
