Here’s a fun twist on the Classic BLT Sandwich: a Grilled Cheese version! It has the same ingredients as the original BLT but with a bunch of melted cheese and crispy bacon. So if you are tired of eating a boring BLT sandwich, give this upgrade a try!

If you struggle to make bacon perfectly, I’ve put together a short tutorial on How to Make Perfect Bacon – 3 Ways. Check it out! My preferred method is baking it in the oven. If you happen to have an Air Fryer you can also make your bacon in it by following my Air Fryer Bacon recipe.

Recipe Tips

  • If you don’t feel like cooking bacon just for this recipe you can use precooked bacon. Simply warm it up in the microwave and chop it up. You probably won’t even taste the difference.
  • And don’t throw away that bacon grease! Bacon is expensive and the grease is great for making Scrambled Eggs, Grilled Cheese, Popcorn and even hash browns. It can keep up to 3 months if properly stored in the refrigerator.

I always recommend using thick slices of bread for this grilled cheese sandwich like Texas Toast, Egg bread or you can buy a Brioche loaf and slice it yourself as I did for this recipe. But don’t worry if you only have regular slices of bread. It will work just fine for this recipe.
