These Delicious Donut Muffins give you the best of both worlds! Coated with a sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture.
    delicious donut muffins

I love these Delicious Donut Muffins. They are great for breakfast, lunch or even dessert! It's amazing how this simple recipe actually tastes like cinnamon sugar-coated donuts.

These muffins are very similar to my Cinnamon Donut Bread. But if you are looking for another delicious muffin recipe you need to try my Brown Sugar Muffins as well.

For those of you that like a lot of cinnamon sugar on their donuts, make sure you double the topping recipe below (minus the butter unless you need it). Personally, I like them just the way they are but feel free to experiment. That's what cooking is all about!

Be mindful that this recipe only makes 6 muffins. Which is great if you are baking for 1 or 2 people. If you need to make a dozen muffins simply double the ingredients.

Another delicious cinnamon-sugar-based recipe is my "famous" Cinnamon Sugar Beaver Tails. I say famous because for the longest time it was my most popular recipe. And to this day always in my top 5 most viewed recipes.

    📋 Gather your Ingredients

You will need the following ingredients to make this Delicious Donut Muffins recipe (see recipe card for quantities): White Sugar, Unsalted Butter, Ground Nutmeg, Milk, Baking Powder, All Purpose Flour and Ground Cinnamon.

🥣 How to Make Delicious Donut Muffins

In a mixing bowl, mix sugar, butter, and nutmeg. Stir in milk, then add baking powder and flour until combined.
Fill greased muffin cups about half full. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or a toothpick comes out clean. Let muffins cool slightly before removing them from the muffin tin.
While muffins are baking, place the ¼ cup of melted butter in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, mix ½ cup sugar and cinnamon.
Remove muffins from cups, dip each muffin in melted butter then roll in the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Let cool before serving.

    Equipment

    • Muffin Pan

    Ingredients

    MUFFIN INGREDIENTS

    • ½ Cup White Sugar
    • ¼ Cup Unsalted Butter, Melted
    • ¾ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
    • ½ Cup Milk
    • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
    • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour

    TOPPING INGREDIENTS

    • ¼ Cup Unsalted Butter, Melted
    • ½ Cup White Sugar
    • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

    Instructions

    • Preheat Oven to 375°F.
    • In a mixing bowl, mix sugar, butter and nutmeg. Stir in milk, then add baking powder and flour until combined.
    • Fill greased muffin cups about half full. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let muffins cool slightly before removing them from the muffin tin.
    • While muffins are baking, place the ¼ cup of melted butter in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, mix ½ cup sugar and cinnamon.
    • Remove muffins from cups, dip each muffin in melted butter then roll in the sugar cinnamon mixture. Let cool before serving.

    Notes

Try to let the muffins cool as much as possible before adding the topping. If the muffins are too hot they will act like a sponge when you dunk them in the butter.

I just love these muffins. They are great for afternoon snacks. Only made 6 as there are only 2 of us in the house. Perfect for a small family. They were easy to make and very delicious.
