If you are looking to spice up your meals, try adding some of this Jalapeño Sauce. Perfect for Tacos, Burritos or even over some scrambled eggs!

This sauce recipe may sound daunting but it’s actually super easy to make. Basically you puree all the ingredients in a blender then boil it in a saucepan. Now how easy is that?

Since we leave the jalapeños seeds in, this sauce recipe is going to be pretty spicy. You can play around with leaving some seeds out to make it a little milder but you don’t have control over the peppers themselves.

But chances are if you are considering making this jalapeño sauce at home, you most likely already like spicy foods.

Tips

  • Wear disposable gloves when handling Hot Peppers
  • The capsaicin in hot peppers is what makes peppers hot. If you handle hot peppers gloveless, it’s a guarantee that you’re in for a nasty case of chili burn, both on your fingers and anywhere you rub. Like your face. Ouch!
  • Even if you wear disposable gloves, be careful about what you touch. The gloves are going to protect your fingers, but touching any part of your body with the gloves after you’ve handled hot peppers can lead to severe chili burn. Resist the temptation to rub your eyes. Wait until you’ve removed your gloves and washed your hands thoroughly with soap.

Equipment Needed

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making this recipe.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Jalapeño Sauce recipe. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Fresh Jalapeños – medium to large jalapeños for this recipe
  • Yellow Onion – brown onion or white onion also works
  • White Vinegar – regular distilled white vinegar only
  • Water – needed to give a sauce-like consistency
  • Garlic Cloves – if you must you can use the minced jarred stuff but fresh is better
  • Fresh Lime Juice – if you don’t have any fresh limes you can use the bottled stuff
  • Salt – needed for almost all recipes
  • Fresh Cilantro – brings a nice fresh flavor to the sauce

How to Make Jalapeño Sauce

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor and purée.
