Elevate your grilling game with Montreal Steak Seasoning. This versatile spice blend is a must-have for meat lovers.
Montreal Steak Seasoning is a popular seasoning typically used to season beef steaks but can also be used on chicken, pork, and seafood.
The exact origins of Montreal steak seasoning are unknown, but it is safe to assume it originated in Montreal, Canada.
Just like all Dry Rub & Seasoning Recipes, this one is super easy to make. Ready in 5 minutes. It will probably take you longer to gather all the ingredients than making it!
How to use Dry Rub
Before you apply your dry rub to your meat, make sure you pat your meat down with a paper towel to remove as much moisture as you can. Next you may use a binder to help the dry rub stick to the meat. Totally optional. I suggest using a little sunflower oil or olive oil.
Once the binder has been applied to the meat, liberally apply the dry rub all over the meat. Make sure you take the proper precautions to not cross-contaminate! I suggest you use one hand to apply the dry rub and the other to rub the dry rub into the meat.
Internal Steak Temperatures
Doneness | Internal Temp | Description |
---|---|---|
Center is a little pink | 120°F – 125°F | Center is bright red |
Medium Rare | 130°F – 135°F | Center is very pink |
Medium | 140°F – 145°F | Center is little pink |
Medium Well | 150°F – 155°F | Center is mostly brown |
Well | 160°F & Above | Steak is brown all over |
Tips
- Let your steaks come to room temperature BEFORE applying the seasoning. This is optional but doing so will help the steak cook more evenly. This can take 30 minutes or more.
- Once done, let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to get reabsorbed into the meat, ensuring every bite is tender and juicy.
