I had some leftover Tri-Tip and decided to make these delicious sandwiches. Super easy to make especially when you have a bunch of leftover tri-tip you want to use up.

As with most sandwich recipes, none of what I put on the recipe card is written in stone. Feel free to mix things up to your liking.

For example, you can use a different kind of bread or not use the secret sauce at all and substitute for some BBQ Sauce.

Tri-Tip is a triangular-shaped piece of beef located at the bottom of the sirloin region of the cow. It’s pretty lean but has just enough fat to keep it juicy and flavorful during cooking.

This cut of meat gained popularity in California during the 1950s and is now a favorite across the US and probably a few other countries.

The secret sauce I am including on the recipe card was inspired by Celebrity Pitmaster Kent Rollins. I say inspired because I took some liberties to tweak the quantities to my liking.

Feel free to do the same. It’s an awesome sauce that pairs well with this tri-tip sandwich.

When it comes to re-heating the tri-tip, assuming you want to re-heat it, I would suggest putting it in a toaster oven for 7-10 minutes at 325°F until it reaches your desired temperature.

As a last resort, you can also reheat the meat in the microwave. I personally try to avoid using the microwave as much as possible but use what you got!

You will need the following ingredients to make this Tri-Tip Sandwich recipe. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Tri-Tip
  • Ciabatta Rolls
  • Mayonnaise
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Horseradish Sauce
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Honey
  • Sour Cream

Optional toppings include: Leaf Lettuce, Baby Arugula, Pickled Red Onions and Sliced Cheese.

  1. In a small bowl whisk all the special secret sauce ingredients together.
  2. Let the sauce sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to meld. You can use it immediately, but the longer you let it sit in the refrigerator, the more flavorful it will be.
  1. If desired, toast the bread. Place approximately 4 ounces of sliced Tri-Tip on the bottom half of the bun.
  2. Top the Tri-Tip with some secret sauce. Garnish with your favorite toppings like pickled red onions, lettuce and sliced cheese.
