jalapeno lime crema

I wanted some Crema to go with my Taco Carnitas but this time I wanted something with a little more kick than my Garlic Lime Crema. I figured adding a couple of jalapeños would do the trick. Well a little more than that but you get the point.

Just like my other crema recipe, this one is equally easy to make. A handful of simple ingredients and about 5 minutes of your time. You will need a blender or food processor for this recipe so hopefully you already have one.

Now, I know this jalapeño crema is amazing on Carnitas, but you can really use it on anything you like. It’s like the Mexican version of sour cream.

This versatile condiment can be used on chicken or seafood tacos/burritos, or even as a dollop on your chili or pozole. It’s also great on nachos! Some of my friends even like to add it to their scrambled eggs.

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do regarding substitutions for this recipe. I know many people don’t like Cilantro but it is a key ingredient in this recipe. If you still want to enjoy a great crema without cilantro, I suggest trying my Super Easy Garlic Lime Crema recipe.

I always recommend letting the sauce sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to meld. You can use it immediately, but the longer you let it sit in the refrigerator, the more flavorful it will be.
