Add a zesty kick to your meals with Spicy Lemon Tahini Sauce. Get creative with this flavorful condiment in your favorite recipes.
I recently made another batch of my Awesome Hummus and wanted to use the rest of the Tahini to free up some space in my fridge. This led me to experiment with a Spicy Lemon Tahini Sauce, and the results were fantastic.
What is Tahini
Tahini is a Mediterranean condiment made from sesame seeds. It is one of the main ingredients in hummus as well as other Mediterranean recipes like Baba Ganoush.
You are most likely wondering what you would use this tahini sauce for at this point. Well I like to use it as a condiment on my burgers as you can see but you can also use it in various dishes like as a Salad Dressing, Sauce for Coleslaw, as a Sandwich Spread or even as a dipping sauce for vegetables or pita bread.
If you don’t often use Tahini, you might need to take a trip to your local grocery store but you should have everything else on hand if you like making various recipes.
Don’t be alarmed if you notice different colors of tahini. Tahini (made from ground sesame seeds) comes in different colors due to variations in the type of sesame seeds used, the amount of processing, and whether the seeds are hulled or unhulled.
None of this should affect the overall flavor of this awesome tahini sauce. Use what you got or buy whatever type you want!
Tips
- If you or someone you know has a nut allergy, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to determine whether sesame seeds or tahini should be avoided as well.

How to Make Spicy Lemon Tahini Sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients until well combined.
- Taste the sauce and adjust as needed. Add more water a teaspoon at a time if you want a thinner sauce.
- Let the sauce sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to meld. You can use it immediately, but the longer you let it sit in the refrigerator, the more flavorful it will be.
