This is hands down one of The Best Hummus Recipes out there. So much better than store-bought. If you find that hard to believe, give this recipe a try.
What is Hummus
Hummus is a popular dip or spread from the Middle East. It is typically made with Tahini, Olive Oil, Garlic and Garbanzo Beans (aka Chickpeas). It has the consistency of a creamy paste. Usually served with Pita or an assortment of vegetables.
The first time I had Hummus was when I bought some at my local Trader Joe’s. They carry several different varieties of Hummus and I decided on the Red Pepper Hummus. From that point forward, I was hooked on this Middle Eastern spread.
While Hummus is relatively cheap to buy, I prefer to make my own at home. This way I have a bit more control over the flavor profile. And before you ask, yes Garbanzo Beans and Chickpeas are the same thing.
You can serve Hummus with Baked Pita Chips or vegetables but what I prefer is to use Pita Rounds and cut them into wedges and warm them in the oven. Delicious!
Hummus is relatively healthy as it’s quite low in cholesterol, and it also has a good amount of fiber. Just like most other recipes, moderation is the key here as it is a little high in carbs and all that fiber might lead to other “issues”
What is Tahini
Tahini is a Mediterranean condiment made from sesame seeds. It is one of the main ingredients in hummus as well as other Mediterranean recipes like Baba Ganoush.

The best hummus for sure. It is delicious and very tasty. My family just loved it. We have it a couple of times a week as a snack when they get home from school. Thanks to chef Rodney for posting this recipe.
