The Garlic Fingers with Donair Sauce is a popular appetizer on the East Coast of Canada. I previously published a recipe for Canadian Donair Kebabs but now sharing this fun Canadian Recipe with you.

So what exactly is this Canadian dish? The Garlic fingers basically consist of pizza dough topped with melted garlic butter and cheese. They are baked until the cheese is completely melted and golden brown.

The Donair sauce – which was created in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada – is a garlic-flavored dipping sauce made with Sweetened Condensed Milk and vinegar.

When it comes to the pizza dough you have many options. It doesn’t matter too much what you use. I like to keep it simple and use the refrigerated variety from a tube (I use Pillsbury).

Recipe Tip
If you don’t have any garlic butter on hand you can make your own by melting some butter and adding some minced garlic. For this recipe, I would recommend using about 1/4 cup of butter and 3-4 garlic cloves (or to taste).
