You will need the following ingredients to make this Gluten-Free Chicken recipe in your Slow Cooker. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Chicken Breasts – depending on their size you might want to cut them
  • Yellow Onion
  • Low Sodium Chicken Broth – you can also use chicken stock
  • Fresh Ginger
  • Light Brown Sugar – you can also use dark brown sugar
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Salt and Pepper – use freshly ground black pepper if possible
  1. Place half the onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the chicken breasts on top of the onions.

  2. In a bowl, combine the chicken broth, ginger root, brown sugar, and garlic. Pour over the chicken. Top with the remaining onions.

  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Season with a little salt and pepper.
  4. The chicken is ready when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  5. Optionally brown the chicken in a hot skillet for a few minutes.

Ingredients
 

  • 4 Chicken Breasts
  • 1 small Yellow Onion, chopped
