I always have some of my Homemade Cornbread Mix in my pantry. It’s super easy to make and stores easily in a sealed container. In my case, I like to use jars to store mine.
When it comes time to make the cornbread, I just use the amount called for in the recipe. Depending on the amount of cornbread mix the recipe calls for, you should be able to get 1 or 2 cornbread recipes out of this amount of mix. Mileage may vary.
If you’ve tried other cornbread mix recipes before, you may be surprised that this one calls for some Baking Soda.
I like my cornbread to be light and fluffy so when this mix is used with sour cream or buttermilk, you will end up with fluffier cornbread.
Recipe Idea
This cornbread mix makes a great gift. Put the mix in a nice glass jar with an airtight lid and voila! An easy-to-make and inexpensive gift for the foodies in your life.
If you prefer a denser cornbread, you can just leave the baking soda out. That is the only ingredient that is optional in this recipe.
If you regularly make cornbread, I suggest you make a batch of this cornbread mix with and then without so you can see which one you prefer.
