    slice of peanut butter cake

I needed to make a cake for an event I was attending and wanted to do something a little different so decided to give this Peanut Butter Cake recipe a shot. And I am happy I did.

This cake recipe is no different than other boxed cake recipes. Besides the addition of some creamy peanut butter to the cake batter, it really is no different than other simple cake recipes.

I'm including a simple recipe for peanut butter frosting as well. My wife thinks a chocolate frosting would go nicely with this peanut butter cake. Kinda like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. One variation I haven't tried yet is to use crunchy peanut butter for the frosting. I think it would add a nice texture.

Instead of using Butter Cake mix, you can try using a white cake mix or even a yellow cake mix. I haven't personally tried it but should turn out just fine with minimal change to the overall flavor of the cake. My wife thinks it might be fun to try using a chocolate cake mix for this cake recipe but I think I am going to wait before trying that variation.

📋 What Ingredients do I need

You will need the following ingredients to make this Peanut Butter Cake recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Creamy Peanut Butter, Unsalted Butter, Eggs, Butter Cake Mix, Water, Powdered Sugar and Heavy Cream.

🥣 How to make Peanut Butter Cake

    Make the Cake
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease two 9 inch round cake pans. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, butter and cream until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one. Add the cake mix alternately with the water. Stir until just combined.
Pour the batter into the cake pans. Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pan for about 10 minutes then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

    Make the Frosting
In a mixing bowl, cream the peanut butter and butter until light and fluffy.
Add the powdered sugar. Mix in enough cream to make the frosting the desired consistency.
Frost the cake once it has completely cooled.
