These Roast Beef Sandwiches are so easy to make in a slow cooker. All. you need to do is dump all the ingredients into the crockpot and let it do its thing. If you are in a rush they can be ready in as little as 4 hours.

    🍷 What kind of Wine

I am often asked what kind of red wine to use for this recipe. As long as it's a dry red wine you should be good to go. A Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, or Merlot will do just fine. Heck, I've even used a nice Malbec with great success. Just use what you have on hand. Remember, if you wouldn't drink it, don't cook with it.

    🥃 Alcohol Warning

Please take into consideration that some of the alcohol in this recipe may not completely burn off and the remains could be of significant concern to recovering alcoholics, parents, and others who have ethical or religious reasons for avoiding alcohol.

    💭 Ingredient Substitution

Whenever I can I like to use a Sweet Brown Onion for this recipe. If you don't have any you can easily substitute for a regular Yellow Onion. If you don't have any Fresh Thyme on hand you either omit completely or substitute for some regular or Italian Oregano.

I typically use a chuck roast when making this recipe but you can use other cuts of beef if needed. A Top Round Roast while a little pricier (at least in my area), would make a good substitute when making this slow cooker sandwich recipe.

    💭 Slow Cooker Tip

Try to resist as much as possible the temptation to open the lid while it's cooking as the slow cooker loses heat. By just opening the lid to stir the contents can make the internal temperature drop by 10°F to 15°F.
