    sriracha bourbon ketchup

If you are like me you probably get bored with the same old toppings on your burgers so I whipped up some of this Sriracha Bourbon Ketchup to see if I liked the flavor of it. I love Sriracha and Bourbon so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    💭 What is Sriracha Sauce

Sriracha Hot Sauce originated in Thailand. It's typically made with chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, sugar and salt. In the United States, Sriracha sauce is manufactured by Huy Fong Foods. It's sometimes called Rooster Sauce because of the rooster logo on the bottle. Why a rooster? Because the creator of this awesome sauce was born in the year of the rooster.

Since this homemade ketchup recipe calls for some bourbon, be mindful of who is going to be eating it. Probably not a good idea to serve it at your next family BBQ if kids will be in attendance. Or at a minimum warn your guests that this ketchup contains a bit of bourbon in it.

    🥃 Alcohol Warning

Please take into consideration that some of the alcohol in this recipe may not completely burn off and the remains could be of significant concern to recovering alcoholics, parents, and others who have ethical or religious reasons for avoiding alcohol.

Even though this recipe only calls for 2 tablespoons of bourbon, I suggest you don't use the expensive stuff if you can avoid it. Keep the good stuff for your cocktails! If you don't have any bourbon on hand you can use some whiskey and still get a pretty decent spicy ketchup. Just keep in mind that whatever you decide to use will have an impact on the flavor profile.

You can use this homemade sriracha bourbon ketchup with anything you would normally use ketchup with. I like it on my burgers and to dip my fries in but you can use it on hot dogs, corn dogs or even meatloaf for something really different. The sky is the limit!

📋 What Ingredients do I need

You will need the following ingredients to make this Sriracha Bourbon Ketchup recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Ketchup, Bourbon, Sriracha Sauce and Light Brown Sugar.

🥣 How to make Sriracha Bourbon Ketchup

In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients until well combined.
Let the sauce sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to meld. You can use it immediately, but the longer you let it sit in the refrigerator, the more flavorful it will be.
