This Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole will be a hit with the kids. All the flavor of a classic cheeseburger without the carbs from the hamburger buns.
Like most casseroles, this one is very easy to make. All you need to do is combine a few ingredients in a casserole dish and let the oven do the rest. Cheeseburgers and Fries for the whole family in just an hour.
While not mandatory, I strongly suggest you use the leanest ground beef you can. Even after draining the fat, you may find the end result a little too greasy. A 90/10 ratio works perfectly but if needed an 85/15 blend will work.
How to Handle Raw Beef
- Thaw frozen ground beef on a plate on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator, to avoid dripping onto other foods.
- Keep raw and ready-to-eat meats separate.
- Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling raw ground beef. Wash cutting boards, bowls, and utensils used to prepare raw ground beef with hot soapy water and rinse well.
- Use separate plates to carry raw ground beef patties to the cooking area and cooked patties to the serving area.
- Use a Thermometer to ensure Ground Beef Reaches the Safely Cooked Internal Temperature of 160°F.
My Mac and Cheeseburger and my Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Bake are a couple of other great dishes packed full of cheesy goodness.
Tips
- If you like your french fries extra crispy I suggest you bake them separately ahead of time – around 20 minutes – before adding them to the casserole. This will give them a little extra bake time without drying out the ground beef.
