I wanted to experiment a bit and make a version of my French Canadian Tourtière but as a cheeseburger pie.
Similar preparation but this version has many of the ingredients you would have with a classic cheeseburger.
What I really like about this recipe is how versatile it is. You can add or omit almost any ingredient to make it your own. Use green bell peppers instead of the chopped dill pickles and even leave out the bacon if you are not in the mood.
Serving Suggestions
You can serve a slice of this delicious cheeseburger pie with the same fixings you would serve with a regular cheeseburger: ketchup, mustard tomatoes, and even a little shredded lettuce.
I also like to serve it with some Air Fryer French Fries. Only takes a few minutes to make from frozen!
Recipe Variation
Instead of using eggs and all purpose flour as the binder for the meat mixture, you can use some mashed potatoes. For this recipe I would suggest using between 1/2 to 3/4 cup of mashed potatoes.

Gather your Ingredients
You will need the following ingredients to make this Cheeseburger Pie recipe. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Deep Dish Pastry Pie Shell – I like to Marie Callender’s brand
- Cheddar Cheese – you can use mild or sharp cheddar depending on your preference
- Lean Ground Beef – I like to use an 85/15 for this recipe.
- Tomato Sauce – use 1/2 cup of your favorite tomato sauce
- Yellow Onion – you can also use a white onion or sweet brown onion
- Beef Bouillon – you can also use some Better than Bouillon which I often use in recipes
- Eggs & All Purpose Flour – this is used as a binder for the meat, similar to a meatloaf
- Bacon – you can use pre-cooked bacon to make it easier
- Pickles – common ingredient included on a cheeseburger
- Olive Oil – always use the best quality olive oil you can
