    Pizza Style Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

These Pizza Style Grilled Cheese Sandwiches is just like eating a slice of pizza. Growing up we would have Grilled Cheese Sandwiches all the time but never with pepperoni, onions and green peppers in them.

    pizza sauce on bread slice

While grilled cheese sandwiches are pretty simple to make, the key to this recipe is making sure the vegetables are nice and tender but also making sure not to burn them in the process.

I like to add a little pizza sauce to one side of the bread but depending on what type of bread you use, it could get a little too soggy. You may want to use less or omit the pizza sauce completely if that is the case.

Whenever I make grilled cheese sandwiches, I like to use a nice thick Texas Toast but feel free to use whatever kind of bread you have on-hand. A nice Potato Bread, Hawaiin Bread or even Ciabatta would go perfectly with this recipe.

    💭 Ingredient Substitution

Instead of Mozzarella Cheese slices, you can use slices of Monterey Jack Cheese or Provolone Cheese. In keeping with the spirit of this recipe, I think a white cheese is preferred. Just make sure it melts easily.

For as long as I can remember I've always used butter when making grilled cheese sandwiches. Come to find out my wife uses mayonnaise instead of butter. Apparently, her mom made them that way when she was a child so she did the same. I've tried both and personally can't tell the difference between the two.
