Try this delicious recipe for Pulled Pork Totchos, a creative twist on classic nachos using crispy Tater Tots as the base.
I am not one to follow viral threads especially when it comes to recipe ideas. But when I heard about Totchos, I just had to give it a try by making this Pulled Pork Totcho recipe.
If you are not familiar with the term Totchos, it’s basically Nachos but instead of using tortilla chips, you use frozen Tater Tots. Clever isn’t it?
As with many of my recipes, this one is easily tweaked to your liking. You can substitute for your favorite cheese, white sauce, beans and even toppings. Be creative and make it your own!
Just keep in mind that if you use different kinds of cheese than what I have listed on the printable recipe card, make sure you use cheese that is meltable. Many think all cheeses will melt once heated but that is not always the case.
I usually bake my tots in the oven but you can also use the air fryer or a deep fryer. Using the air fryer would be great except you may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of the air fryer. I own a deep fryer so next time I make this recipe I will try that method.
Whatever method you select, make sure to follow the directions on the package to ensure they turn out the way you want them!
Equipment Needed
Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making this recipe.
Gather your Ingredients
You will need the following ingredients to make this Pulled Pork Totchos recipe. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Frozen Tater Tots – I like Ore-Ida brand tots but you can use any brand you want
- Sour Cream – I like to use a light sour cream as it has up to 50% less fat
- Ranch Dressing – Hidden Valley is my preferred brand
- Green Onions – you can also use scallions if you want
- Colby Jack Cheese – any cheese that melts well will work like cheddar or Monterey jack
- Pulled Pork – you can use pre-made pulled pork or make your own
- Black Beans – make sure you rinse your beans before using
- Pico de Gallo – you can use store-bought or use my recipe for Pico De Gallo
- Pickled Jalapeños – if you don’t like heat, you can leave these off
How to Make Pulled Pork Totchos

- Top the tots with pulled pork, shredded cheese, and black beans. Return to the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
