homemade ranch dressing

When my wife tells me she wants salad for dinner I usually make my favorite Taco Salad recipe which calls for Ranch Dressing. Instead of the bottled Ranch Dressing I usually use, I decided to make my own this time around.

This recipe is one of these that you might be asking yourself why would I want to make my own ranch dressing when I can easily get a bottle at the store?

Well why I often like to make my own sauces and dressings is that I can tweak it to my tastes. A little more seasoning or a little less, very easy to get it exactly the way you want.

If you don’t have Buttermilk on hand, you can use this trick as a substitute: Add one tablespoon of lemon juice to a measuring cup. Add milk and fill to the 1 cup measurement line. Stir the mixture together and let sit for 5 minutes.

cultured buttermilk blend

Another option is to use a cultured buttermilk blend. All you need to do is add water. I was very skeptical at first but in a pinch it works great!

This homemade ranch dressing is not only limited to salads. You can use it as a dipping sauce for your chicken wings or as a condiment on your favorite Turkey Bacon Ranch Sliders.

Keep the ranch dressing in the refrigerator in an air-tight container or jar. It should keep for a couple of weeks but always check with a quick sniff test before using.

Hi, thank you for the recipe. I love ranch dressing.

How does this one compare to the Wendy’s ranch copycat? Is the sour cream a game changer?

    1. Both are great sauces but I feel like this one is closer in flavor and texture to what you would find at the grocery store. Just make sure you give it some time to rest in the fridge so all the flavors can meld together.
