Don’t settle for plain old mayonnaise โ€“ add some Mexican flair with this homemade tomatillo mayonnaise recipe!

I made this Yummy Tomatillo Mayonnaise to put on my Turkey burgers. I usually mix a little mayo with some Sriracha or relish but was getting bored with that.

In addition to turkey burgers, this delicious condiment is awesome on fish tacos or even on a salad as a dressing.

Like most of my sauce recipes, this one is super easy to make. Like under 5 minutes. It will probably take you longer to get all the ingredients out of your pantry than it will make this yummy tomatillo mayonnaise.

Salsa Verde gets its beautiful green color and flavor from the Tomatillos. If you’ve never heard of tomatillos, they basically look like baby tomatoes with a green leafy husk.

While related to the tomato family, they are not considered tomatoes. If you need to know more about tomatillos, read this article on Wiki about the tomatillo.

Sauces are one of my favorite things to whip up in the kitchen. They are usually pretty straightforward to make and can be pretty forgiving for beginners.

I am generalizing of course as some sauces are a little more involved and require some “skills” in the kitchen but not this sauce recipe!

You will need the following ingredients to make this tomatillo mayonnaise recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Tomatillo Salsa (Salsa Verde), Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Lemon Juice and Salt.

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until well blended and smooth.
  2. Let the sauce sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to meld. You can use it immediately, but the longer you let it sit in the refrigerator, the more flavorful it will be.
