Awesome Buckeye Brownies

Ok, I have to be honest here. I never heard of Buckeye Candy which is what this brownie recipe is based on. I found this delicious recipe when I was looking for a new brownie recipe. The second I saw the ingredients, I knew I just had to make these Awesome Buckeye Brownies.

Just like Reese’s Peanut Butter cups, these Brownies combine two ingredients that go perfectly together, chocolate and peanut butter.

Awesome Buckeye Brownies

The first time I made these delicious brownies, I had the pan cooling in the kitchen. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my wife cutting a piece. All I heard was “OMG these are delicious! Definitely a keeper!”

Equipment Needed

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making this recipe.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Awesome Buckeye Brownies recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Chocolate Brownie Mix, Creamy Peanut Butter, Powdered Sugar, Unsalted Butter and Chocolate Chips.

  1. Prepare and make the brownies in a 9 x 13 greased pan according to the directions on the package.
  2. While you let the brownies cool, combine the powdered sugar, 1/2 Cup of butter and peanut butter. Mix until smooth and then spread over cooled brownies. If the peanut butter is too thick to spread on the brownies, just add a bit of water. Chill for at least 1 hour before moving on to the next step.
  3. Melt the chocolate chips and 6 Tbsp of butter over low heat or in the microwave. Make sure you stir occasionally so you don’t burn the chocolate! Spread the chocolate mixture over peanut butter layer.
