As the name of this recipe implies, this chocolate brownie recipe calls for a couple of cups of applesauce. It really does help make these brownies fluffy and moist.

You will need the following ingredients to make these Delicious Applesauce Brownies: Vegetable Shortening, White Sugar, Eggs, Unsweetened Applesauce, All Purpose Flour, Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Ground Cinnamon, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, Walnuts and White Sugar.
🥣 How do I make Applesauce Brownies
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, combine sifted all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and 1 ½ cups of the white sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs and mix well. Stir in the applesauce and the flour mixture. Beat for approximately 1 minute.
Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the topping ingredients over the top of the brownie batter,
Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool before cutting into squares.

- 2 Cup Unsweetened Applesauce

Topping
- ¾ Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- ½ Cup Walnuts, chopped (optional)
- 2 Tbsp White Sugar
Instructions
