As the name of this recipe implies, this chocolate brownie recipe calls for a couple of cups of applesauce. It really does help make these brownies fluffy and moist.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Delicious Applesauce Brownies recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Vegetable Shortening, White Sugar, Eggs, Unsweetened Applesauce, All Purpose Flour, Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Ground Cinnamon, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, Walnuts and White Sugar.
🥣 How do I make Applesauce Brownies
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, combine sifted all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and 1 ½ cups of the white sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs and mix well. Stir in the applesauce and the flour mixture. Beat for approximately 1 minute.
Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the topping ingredients over the top of the brownie batter,
Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool before cutting into squares.

- ¾ Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- ½ Cup Walnuts, chopped (optional)
- 2 tablespoon White Sugar
Instructions
