These Baked Cream Cheese and Bacon Wontons are so good that they will be gone before you know it. All wonton lovers must try this recipe.
I like making Wontons. I usually deep fry them like in my Deep Fried Wonton Recipe but this time I decided to make these Baked Cream Cheese and Bacon Wontons. Should make them healthier right?
Recipe Tip
While you can pretty much use any brand of cream cheese, I highly recommend you use Philadelphia brand cream cheese. You will taste the difference.
If you’ve ever wondered what part of the pig Bacon comes from check out the picture below. Surprised?
While these wontons are not terribly difficult to make, the process of assembling them can be a bit tedious. Especially if you’ve never worked with wonton wrappers before.
To make the process as easy as possible, I do highly recommend that the cream cheese is at room temperature.
If needed you can always use the defrost function in your microwave for a few seconds. But watch it closely. You don’t want the cream cheese to turn to liquid!
How to Make Bacon

And don’t throw away that bacon grease! Bacon is expensive and the grease is great for making Scrambled Eggs, Grilled Cheese, Popcorn and even hash browns. It can keep up to 3 months if properly stored in the refrigerator.
If you prefer your Wontons deep-fried, you can use the same ingredients and process to make the wontons but instead of baking them for 10 minutes, you can fry them in some oil for a few minutes.
If you do decide to bake them, they might still be a little tender in the middle but they will crisp up nicely as they cool down.
Depending on how much olive oil you use, you might find them a bit too greasy. In this case, you can use a paper towel to dab them and soak up the excess oil.

Cream cheese and bacon. What more could you ask for. These are delicious. Made these and brought some to my son and family and my grandson went crazy for them. So easy to make and they are the kind of appetizer that you would make over and over again.
Cream cheese…..need I say more? These are fantastic.
These appetizers are great, so tasty and easy to make. My family loves bacon and onions of any kind, so I just increased the quantities of these two ingredients and all were happy. Thanks for sharing Chef Rod……..regards from Canada
