Rice Krispie treats. Yes please! I loved Rice Krispie treats growing up. And I’m pretty sure we all loved it when mom made these sticky treats for us growing up.

This is not the first time I have posted a Rice Krispie treat recipe. Last Halloween I posted my Spooky Halloween Rice Krispies Treats recipe.

Those were a hit, especially with the kids. This time around though, I am sharing my Cookie Butter Rice Krispie Treats recipe.

Yes, you read that right, Cookie Butter. I will be the first to admit that I don’t often eat or cook with Cookie Butter, but my wife loves Cookie Butter on apple slices.

Don’t worry though, the cookie butter simply adds flavor and does not alter the sticky treats we all love. You know what I mean. We all have licked our fingers after eating these delicious sticky treats.

I like to use mini marshmallows for making this recipe. You will need a 10 oz bag which equals 6 cups of marshmallows.

Do you ever stop and wonder who came up with some of these recipes? I decided to Google this one and came across this little tidbit on Wikipedia:

You will need the following ingredients to make this cookie butter Rice Krispie treats recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Unsalted Butter, Marshmallows, Cookie Butter, Vanilla Extract and Rice Krispies.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, pour the Rice Krispies and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter and cookie butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once melted, add in the marshmallows. Stir until they are mostly melted (low and slow is the key to the perfect texture).
  3. Add the Vanilla Extract to the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Once the mixture is fully melted, remove from heat and pour over the Rice Krispies. Stir lightly to combine, then dump into a greased 9 x 9 pan.
  5. Allow the Rice Krispies to cool for 5 minutes, then press into the bottom of the pan. Allow the mixture to cool another 30 minutes before serving.

Ingredients
 

  • 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • ¾ Cup Cookie Butter
  • 6 Cups Marshmallows
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 6 Cups Rice Krispies

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, pour the Rice Krispies and set aside.

Notes

A 10 ounce bag of mini marshmallows equals 6 Cups which is needed for this recipe.

    I have I always made rice crispy treats with regular ingredients but when I saw this recipe I decided to use the cookie butter. It made such a difference that I will not go back to my regular recipe.
