Homemade Buttery Biscuits

I was on a quest to make some Homemade Biscuits to accompany my Spaghetti Casserole dish and this is the biscuit recipe I ended up by making.

Homemade Buttery Biscuits

Sure you can buy pre-made biscuits in a can and call it a day. But every now and then it’s nice to have some homemade biscuits.

I realize that many of you don’t like working with dough but this recipe is forgiving enough even for a beginner. I highly recommend you also try my Cast Iron Skillet Buttermilk Biscuits recipe. They are to die for!

Biscuits on a plate

Looking for a biscuit with a little more sweetness to them? Then you must try my Cinnamon Apple Biscuit recipe. Or for a cheesier biscuit, give my Cheddar Cheese Biscuits recipe a shot. Easy to make and delicious.

If you don’t have any Bisquick on hand, you can make your own by combining 1 Cup All Purpose Flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder, 1/2 teaspoon Salt and 1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter (or vegetable oil).

You will need the following ingredients to make this Homemade Buttery Biscuits recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Unsalted Butter, Bisquick, 7-Up and Sour Cream.

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Put the butter in a 9 x 13 baking dish and place the dish in the oven until the butter is melted. Remove the dish from the oven.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the Bisquick, 7-Up and sour cream. The dough will be sticky so you may want to coat your hands in Bisquick before kneading the dough.
  4. Turn the dough onto a Bisquick floured work surface. You may need to sprinkle a little more of the Bisquick mix into the dough if you find that it’s too sticky. Roll the dough until it’s 1 inch thick.
  5. Cut circles out of the dough using a round cutter (or you can use anything that is round) to make the biscuits.
  6. Place the biscuits in the pan of melted butter. Bake until the biscuits are golden brown which typically takes 12 to 15 minutes depending on your oven.
  7. Remove from the dish from the oven and let the biscuits sit and soak in all of the melted butter until cooled.

  1. I have made biscuits before, but I have never had much success until I tried this recipe. They turned out great and were very flakey. They were even good the second day. I will make this recipe again.
