How to Make PERFECT Hard-Boiled Eggs

Do you get frustrated with trying to make the perfect hard-boiled egg? Doesn’t matter if you are making them for a potato salad or for deviled eggs, you need the eggs to be perfectly cooked.

I realize that making hard-boiled eggs isn’t brain surgery but it appears there are still some people out there that struggle with making hard-boiled eggs.

I decided to memorialize my foolproof method for making hard-boiled eggs perfectly each and every time.

Now here’s the thing. You need to follow the instructions to a T. Meaning, the times listed on the recipe card need to be exact! Use a timer. Doesn’t matter if it’s the timer for your microwave, the oven or even your smartphone. Timing is everything for this recipe.

How to Make Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs

  1. Fill a pot with cold water.
  2. Add the eggs ensuring they are covered with water. Bring the water to a boil.
  3. Turn off heat and cover and let sit for 13 minutes. Not 12 minutes. Not 14 minutes. 13 minutes.
  4. Remove eggs from pot and place in an ice bath for 5 minutes. This will prevent the eggs from cooking further AND make them easier to peel.
  5. Once you have peeled the shell off the eggs, run them under some cold to make sure you got all of the shell off.

    I have been doing this for some time now and it is the only way to go. I have used many other ways and they all failed. This one works. The chef is right, you must follow the directions.
