This Onion Butter Rice recipe is a keeper in our house. Super easy to make in your Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.

Why settle for boring rice when you can elevate it by adding 3 simple ingredients?

The only ingredient you may not have in your pantry is the Condensed French Onion Soup. Unlike other condensed soups, this one may be a little more difficult to find at your local grocery store.

I’m sure other brands carry it but I know Campbell’s Soup carries it as that is what I used to make this rice recipe.

Tips

  • While not necessary, I like to rinse my rice before cooking. I find it makes the rice fluffier.
  • If you don’t have any beef broth on hand you can make your own using bouillon cubes or some Better than Bouillon (no affiliation).

Equipment Needed

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Below are some of my favorite pieces of equipment that I use when making this recipe.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Onion Butter Rice recipe in your Pressure Cooker. For ingredient amounts please refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Beef Broth – you can also use Better than Bouillon
  • Condensed French Onion Soup – I used Campbell’s brand but you can use whatever brand you prefer
  • Unsalted Butter – 1 stick
  • Brown Rice – I prefer to use Long Grain Rice but you can use what you prefer
  1. Optionally rinse the brown rice in a fine mesh colander.
  2. Put all the ingredients in your instant pot pressure cooker.

  3. Cook on high pressure for 23 minutes. Allow the pressure to naturally release.

  4. Use a fork to fluff up the rice and serve.
