pizza with black olives and capers

I was craving pizza and wanted something a little different so I decided to make this Pizza with Black Olives and Capers. I often have black olives on my pizza but this is the first time I add capers to it.

    pizza ready for the oven

To make this pizza recipe as easy as possible I suggest you use refrigerated pizza dough. But if you are in the mood and like to make your own, check out my Homemade Pizza Dough & Sauce recipe. You will need more time than listed below but might taste a little better.

You can also use a premade pizza crust that doesn't require any kneading or manipulation. All you need to do is add the toppings and bake it in the oven. Sure doesn't get any easier than that!

If you don't eat capers very often keep in mind that they are pretty salty. You may want to use fewer capers if this might be an issue for you. I certainly wouldn't add more than the two tablespoons I list on the recipe card.

📋 What Ingredients do I need

You will need the following ingredients to make this Pizza with Black Olives and Capers recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Refrigerated Pizza Dough, Pizza Sauce, Sliced Black Olives, Mozzarella Cheese, Capers, Salt & Pepper and Olive Oil.

🥣 How to make Pizza with Black Olives and Capers

Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place a pizza stone in the oven for at least 30 minutes.
On a floured surface, shape pizza dough into a 13 to 14 inch round.
Sprinkle a pizza peel with flour and cornmeal and transfer the shaped dough to the pizza peel.
Remove the pizza stone from the oven, sprinkle lightly with cornmeal then carefully slide the pizza dough from the pizza peel onto the hot pizza stone.
Spread the pizza sauce over the top of the dough. Distribute the sauce evenly using the back of a spoon.
Place the shredded mozzarella on top of the sauce, then the olives followed by the capers. Drizzle the top with some olive oil.
Place the pizza stone in the oven. Cook for 15 minutes or until the dough has browned and all the cheese is melted.
Cut the pizza with a pizza cutter and serve.
