I love banana bread. I like to experiment with a bunch of different types of banana bread recipes. This Chocolate Chip Banana Bread combines the flavors of banana and chocolate which complement each other really well.

This version of the classic banana bread is really not any more difficult to make than other banana bread recipes so next time you are in the mood to make some banana bread, make sure you give this one a try. You won’t regret it!!

The best bananas for banana bread are when they are overripe, not yellow but black. Or they’re at least streaked with black/brown. The darker the better.

If you can’t find overripe bananas, you can speed up the process by putting the bananas in a paper bag along with an apple and loosely folding down the top. The bananas should ripen in just a day or two using this method.

You will need the following ingredients to make this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Bananas, Unsalted Butter, White Sugar, Eggs, Vanilla Extract, Baking Soda, Salt, All Purpose Flour and Chocolate Chips.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Spray a loaf pan with baking spray and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl mash the bananas until completely smooth (I like to use a potato masher).
  4. Stir in the melted butter and mix until smooth.
  5. Add the sugar, egg, vanilla extract, baking soda, salt and flour and stir until the batter is thick.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the loaf cool in the loaf pan for approximately 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • 3 Ripe Bananas
  • â…“ Cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • ½ Cup White Sugar
  • 1 Egg, beaten

  1. I love banana bread and when you add chocolate chips it turns out 100% better. I made a couple for friends and the results were the same. Everyone loved it.
