You will need the following ingredients to make this Creamy Beer Cheese recipe (see recipe card for quantities): Unsalted Butter, Yellow Onion, All Purpose Flour, Whole Milk, Beer, Cream Cheese, Dijon Mustard, Worcestershire Sauce, Hot Sauce and Cheddar Cheese.

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter then add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Add the flour and cook stirring constantly for one minute. Whisk in the milk and the beer. Simmer, stirring occasionally until the mixture has thickened 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the cream cheese, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce until melted and smooth.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the cheddar in three batches, stirring after each addition. Wait until the cheese is melted before adding the next batch. Repeat till all the cheese is melted.
  5. Serve warm with pretzels, chips or veggies.

  • ¼ Cup All Purpose Flour
  • ½ Cup Whole Milk
  • 12 oz Beer, pale ale
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese, room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ Tsp Hot Sauce, such as Tabasco
  • 1 lb Cheddar Cheese, coarsely shredded
