Here’s my take on an Authentic Grilled Cubano Sandwich. Not very difficult to make but you must respect how you layer the sandwich.

What I mean by that is that you must layer the ingredients in the proper order. Working from the bread up: mustard, dill pickles, ham, pulled pork, and Swiss cheese.

If you don’t have a panini press no worries. You can fry up this cubano sandwich in a skillet. Simply place something heavy on top of the sandwich to weigh it down.

Tips
- You have a couple of options for the pulled pork needed to make this Cubano sandwich. You can either buy pre-made pulled pork at the grocery store or you can make your own.

If you decide to make your own pulled pork I strongly recommend you try my Slow Cooker Cuban Mojo Pork recipe.
If you own a smoker you can try my Smoked Pulled Pork, Smoked Dr Pepper Pulled Pork recipe or if you own a pressure cooker you can try my Instant Pot Pulled Pork Sandwiches recipe.

Ingredient Substitution
These Cuban sandwiches are usually made with Pan Cubano. If you don’t have any you can use Bolillo Bread (Mexican Rolls), French Bread Rolls or even a French Baguette cut to size.
