    Janet's Banana Bread

I have no idea who Janet is or where Janet's Banana Bread recipe comes from. All I can tell you is that my wife has been making this banana bread for years and kept it from me. Regular visitors to this site know I love some good Banana Bread.

If you happen to know who "Janet" is, let me know in the comments section below. I would love to know the history of this delicious banana bread.

    Janet's Banana Bread

As you can imagine, there aren’t very many different ways to make banana bread. All banana bread recipes will typically include bananas (duh), sugar, flour, eggs, etc.

This particular banana bread recipe uses sour cream as its "wet" ingredient. The end result is a very moist banana bread. If you like banana bread, do yourself a favor and give this recipe a shot!

    Janet's Banana Bread

I like what the sour cream does to the texture so much that I might start using it in all my banana breads going forward. I just really like how moist Janet's Banana Bead is. Delicious!

If you've ever wondered about the origins of Banana Bread I can tell you that it dates back to the 1930's. You can read this article on Banana Bread for more details.

🍌 How to pick the right bananas

The best bananas for banana bread are when they are overripe, not yellow but black. Or they're at least streaked with black/brown. The darker the better. If you can't find overripe bananas, you can speed up the process by putting the bananas in a paper bag along with an apple and loosely fold down the top. The bananas should ripen in just a day or two using this method.

If you love bananas, I suggest you give my Banana Cake recipe a try. It is so delicious! Or my Banana Cake with Roasted Walnuts a try. Either way, you won't be disappointed!

One of these days when I am in the mood for making Janet's Banana Bread recipe again I might substitute the sour cream for some plain greek yogurt. A little healthier and should not compromise the overall texture or taste of this delicious banana bread recipe.
