I had a bunch of ripe bananas that I needed to use. I could've frozen them as I've done before but I was in the mood to make something besides banana bread. Enter my Double Chocolate Banana Cake!

My wife loves Chocolate. I mean if you look up Chocoholic in the dictionary you will see her picture. Kidding of course. So making this double chocolate banana cake was a no brainer. I knew this banana cake would not go to waste.

Why is this recipe called double chocolate? Well for one, it's a chocolate cake, thanks to the Cocoa Powder. And secondly, it has a generous amount of chocolate chips in it. Chocolate lovers rejoice!

🍌 How to pick the right Bananas

The best bananas for banana bread are when they are overripe, not yellow but black. Or they're at least streaked with black/brown. The darker the better. If you can't find overripe bananas, you can speed up the process by putting the bananas in a paper bag along with an apple and loosely fold down the top. The bananas should ripen in just a day or two using this method.

My family and I loved this chocolate chip banana cake. It is very moist and of course the chocolate chips makes this cake number 1 in my book.
