These Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos are the real deal. Some of my favorite tacos to make. With or without the Bourbon.

Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos

I've read that the original Bourbon Chicken recipe was named after the Chef that created this recipe on Bourbon St. You could imagine my disappointment when I found out that Bourbon chicken did not include any Bourbon!

I decided to make this Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos recipe the proper way - with Bourbon! If you prefer your dish to be alcohol-free, you can easily skip that ingredient. It will not drastically change the flavor of this amazing dish.

Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos

I had some street taco flour tortillas on hand so decided to use the chicken to make some tacos. If you are not in the mood for tacos, you can also serve the chicken on a bed of white rice or even over a baked potato.

    🥃 Alcohol Warning

Please take into consideration that some of the alcohol in this recipe may not completely burn off and the remains could be of significant concern to recovering alcoholics, parents, and others who have ethical or religious reasons for avoiding alcohol.

Try to resist as much as possible the temptation to open the lid while it's cooking as the slow cooker loses heat. By just opening the lid to stir the contents can make the internal temperature drop by 10°F to 15°F.

🐓 How to Handle Raw Chicken

Leave the chicken in the fridge until ready to use.
Be careful of dripping juices. Clean up immediately.
Do not wash raw chicken (which prevents cross-contamination).
Wash all utensils and cutting boards (if applicable).
If marinating the chicken, make sure you toss the juices before you cook. Don't ever use the juice from the marinade.
Wash your hands after handling raw chicken.

These tacos are almost as good as my Instant Pot Carnitas Made My Way tacos. I have a hard time deciding which I like more as Carnitas is one of my favorites. Additionally, make sure you read the Chef's Notes below about the alcohol in this recipe.

🌮 How many Tacos per Person

For planning purposes, you should plan for two tacos per person. Each taco will have approximately 2 ounces of meat plus toppings. For reference, one pound of ground beef will yield about 14 ounces once cooked.
