These Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos are the real deal. Some of my favorite tacos to make. With or without the Bourbon.
I've read that the original Bourbon Chicken recipe was named after the Chef that created this recipe on Bourbon St. You could imagine my disappointment when I found out that Bourbon chicken did not include any Bourbon! I decided to make this Slow Cooker Honey Bourbon Chicken Street Tacos recipe the proper way - with Bourbon!
If you prefer your dish to be alcohol-free, you can easily skip that ingredient. It will not drastically change the flavor of this amazing dish.
I had some street taco flour tortillas on hand so decided to use the chicken to make some tacos. If you are not in the mood for tacos, you can also serve the chicken on a bed of white rice or even over a baked potato.
🥃 Alcohol Warning
Please take into consideration that some of the alcohol in this recipe may not completely burn off and the remains could be of significant concern to recovering alcoholics, parents, and others who have ethical or religious reasons for avoiding alcohol.
Try to resist as much as possible the temptation to open the lid while it's cooking as the slow cooker loses heat. By just opening the lid to stir the contents can make the internal temperature drop by 10°F to 15°F.
🐓 How to Handle Raw Chicken
Leave the chicken in the fridge until ready to use.
Be careful of dripping juices. Clean up immediately.
Do not wash raw chicken (prevents cross-contamination).
Wash all utensils and cutting board (if applicable).
If marinating the chicken, make sure you toss the juices before you cook. Don't ever use the juice from the marinade.
Wash your hands after handling raw chicken.
These tacos are almost as good as my Instant Pot Carnitas Made My Way tacos. I have a hard time deciding which I like more as Carnitas is one of my favorites. Additionally, make sure you read the Chef's Notes below about the alcohol in this recipe.
For another great chicken recipe, you can make in your slow cooker, try my Honey Chicken with Quinoa recipe. Super flavorful! For more great taco recipes, I suggest you try my Fish Tacos with Green Chili Sauce or my Slow Cooker Chicken Lime Tacos.
