I love making sauces. And as I pointed out in my KFC Coleslaw post, I’ve been having fun making copycat recipes lately. So after having lunch one day with the wife at our local Chick-fil-A, I just had to try and replicate their signature sauce. So here it is, my Copycat Chick-fil-A Honey Mustard Sauce recipe.
This delicious Copycat Chick-fil-A Honey Mustard Sauce is versatile as well. I’ve used it to dip my chicken tenders as well as my fries and even slathered my chicken sandwich with it.

My wife describes the flavor like as BBQ Mustard while my mom thinks it’s closer to a plum sauce. Not sure about either one of those but this sauce is awesome.
Personally I think it tastes exactly the way it’s supposed to. A nice combination of honey and mustard with just a small hint of BBQ sauce.

- Honey – use the best quality honey you can for this dipping sauce
- Yellow Mustard – I use French’s mustard (no affiliation)
- Dijon Mustard – for a slightly sharper, more refined mustard flavor

I have been trying to find a Copy Cat recipe for Chick-Fil-A’s Honey Mustard for a while now. It is my all time favorite Honey Mustard. I have to say, this recipe is pretty darn close. I’m not a big horseradish fan, but that might be what is missing from making this recipe exact. Let me know that ratio of horseradish once you try it.
Hey there. I love chickfila’s honey mustard, like with a passion. Don’t you think you’re missing horseradish in your recipe? When I eat it, I always get that twinge of horseradish taste and burn.
Interesting. I haven’t been to Chick-fil-A in quite some time but don’t recall tasting any horseradish (and I love horseradish). Next time I make this sauce I will experiment a bit and add some horseradish. Thanks for the tip!
I have not tried this recipe yet but I can absolutely tell you it is missing horseradish. That flavor is definitely in Chick-fil-A honey mustard sauce. Normally I would never critique a recipe before trying but it was the first thing I noticed missing in the ingredients and then saw the comment above. Have you tried putting it in since then ? Otherwise your recipe sounds good. Thanks.
The horseradish you are tasting is probably mustard powder- it’s got a horseradish punch. What you are missing is tumeric, you can definitely taste it in the original- plus it’s listed as an ingredient on the packaging.
