These Mountain Dew Cupcakes not only have the color of Mountain Dew but they also have a subtle taste of the popular soft drink.
These Mountain Dew Cupcakes are not only pretty to look at, but they taste just like the popular soft drink Mountain Dew.
Making the cupcakes is no different than any other cupcake recipe. The main difference is that this recipe uses Moutain Dew as the main liquid ingredient.
Recipe Notes
The batter for these cupcakes will be very thin. Make sure you use gel coloring instead of the fluid kind as it will make these batter too thin. This cupcake batter will rise quite a bit during baking.
Filling the paper cups halfway will yield approximately 24 cupcakes. Filling them more will obviously yield fewer cupcakes.
As far as the coloring goes, it’s very subjective but for reference, I used about 6-7 drops of the neon green and about 5 drops of the neon yellow for the cupcakes.
For the frosting, I used maybe 10 drops of the neon green and maybe 7 of the neon yellow. I wanted the frosting to be a little darker than the cupcake for contrast.
