This Slow Cooker Turkey Pumpkin Chili is so flavorful. If you love pumpkin, you HAVE to try this chili recipe! Healthy and delicious!
It’s that time of year again when it seems like everything I cook or bake has pumpkin in it. And this Slow Cooker Turkey Pumpkin Chili recipe is no different!
If you are a frequent visitor to this site you know how much I love my Chili. You can see all my wonderful chili recipes by viewing this collection of my Gourmet Chili Recipes.
As you can see I have made many different types of chili with different meats and beans and even lentils for my Healthy Lentil Butternut Squash Chili recipe.
But this is the first time I’ve made chili using pumpkin purée. I know it sounds weird using pumpkin purée but it acts as a substitute for the tomatoes and tomato paste.
The end result is a fantastic pumpkin flavored chili. I really like this chili with Great Northern Beans but you can basically use any type of white bean you have on hand like white kidney beans or Cannellini beans.
An alternative to using chicken broth is Better Than Bouillon. I often use it when I don’t have broth on hand.
What I like about Great Northern Beans is that they usually absorb whatever the come in contact with. So in this case they take on a nice pumpkin flavor.
If you like using Great Northern Beans in your chili, make sure you try my Quick and Easy Turkey Chili recipe. Equally delicious.
If you are in the mood for some light reading, you can learn more about the Origins of Chili which is pretty fascinating. Well to me it is.
Try to resist as much as possible the temptation to open the lid while it’s cooking as the slow cooker loses heat. By just opening the lid to stir the contents can make the internal temperature drop by 10°F to 15°F.

Absolutely delicious! We served it with Fritos and a sprinkle of grated cheese, and I’ll definitely make it again. I browned the turkey before adding it to the crockpot but maybe I’ll walk on the wild side and follow directions next time. All I know is that I’m glad I doubled the recipe so we can eat it again tomorrow.
Glad you liked it! I really appreciate the feedback!
